王拓影像作品中平行而交错的发展叙事成为本书设计结构的灵感来源，贯穿全书的上下分隔还原了这种看似矛盾的叙事结构：中、英文字上下并行，文字诠释的两幅静帧图像上下平铺在对开的页面之上。偶然打乱排版规律的大面积银墨印刷色块则模拟了王拓作品中的叙事断裂与历史失忆。每部影像的作品信息打散分布在三页纸张上的固定节奏与书籍非常规的尺寸设置带来了颇具仪式感的阅读体验，也让人联想到王拓作品对历史叙事的泛萨满化探索。
The catalogue of Wang Tuo: Empty handed into History is designed by loof.design. The complex parallel narratives in Wang Tuo’s work inspired the book’s unique bilingual structure and sense of pacing that instills it with a sense of ritual to match the artist’s shamanistic exploration of history.
The upper and lower partitions throughout the book restore this seemingly contradictory narrative structure: paragraph in Chinese and in English are parallel to each other, Two screen shots with light text rise and fall flat on the facing pages. The large area of silver ink printing color blocks that accidentally disrupt the typesetting rules simulate the narrative break and historical amnesia in Wang Tuo's works. The work information of each video is scattered on three pages. The fixed rhythm and the unconventional size setting of the books bring a ceremonial reading experience.
